  1. Did you ask your bank to have your card ready for use abroad?

That is the thing I think is wrong.

Ask your bank to send you a replacement card, which is ready for use in England.

You may have to contact your local branch of your bank, so they know you and can confirm you are who you say you are when you contact them.

  2. every time i go on holiday i have to tell my

bank where im going so they now it will not

be used here but only to where im going.!!

  3. Your bank has blocked your card for safety reasons.  You should contact them and ask to 'unlock' it.

  4. Your bank will have put a default block on the card. Tell them where you are travelling to and they will authorise your card.

I use my Maestro card all over Europe.

  5. its a security thing, every time you go out of the country you have to tell them were your going and when,

  6. Next time inform your bank that you're travelling before you go. In theory you should be able to take out money abroad, but if they don't know you're abroad, they may think your card is being used by someone else, i.e. it was stolen. I suggest phoning your bank in Ireland and telling them. You can probably get the number online.
