  1. You don't have to have permission to be on a vegan diet! You just have to make sure when your family goes on their grocery store trip that you come along and get the foods you need, that's what I do. My parents are basically against me being a vegetarian, but I just tell them that this is how I want to live, and stop by the vegetarian and Organic food section to get the stuff I need while my family goes and buys their foods.

I didn't necessarily ask my parents to become a vegetarian, I just asked them for their opinions about vegetarianism. Then I told them I wanted to give it a try, and they weren't mad, yet encouraging. So I just went along myself.

If your parents are a strict couple and for some reason stop you from being vegan, ( Ex. not letting you leave the table until you eat a hamburger ) then simply tel them you won't eat, and it will result as them getting in trouble since their your parents ( you can really eat, but just don't let them catch you! ). That's what I would do! But I don't think many parents would go that far.

Anyways, a lot of parents think when teens are interested in vegetarianism that their just going through a faze and it will end sometime soon. That is exactly what my parents thought. They would ask my aunt ' Did Jamie ( my 14 year old cousin ) ever go through a vegetarian stage? ' or ' oh yeah, your trying to be a vegetarian again '. My parent's rude comments bring me down everyday, but I get through it.

Don't let your parents intimidate or scare you, you choose your diet. Your parents have no say in what you eat. They cannot force you to eat anything, so don't be afraid you make your own desicions. Good luck!

  2. Just make your own food at home. Sandwiches are fast and easy. While dining out, consider salads, soups, veg pizza, meat free pasta and in the worse case scenario, only french fries.

No point trying to tell people because most won't understand.

  3. Well, you don't really have to tell your mom if you don't want to because all you need to cut out of your diet right now is dairy, eggs, and honey. She might not even notice. But if you do tell her (which would be more mature) you should tell her when she is in a good mood and make sure you tell her a lot of info. about being a vegan and where you are going to get your vitamins and minerals from that you got from dairy and eggs. If you impress her with a lot of info she won't object saying, "But you won't get this vitamin" and not consider letting you become a vegan.

  4. why would your mom have a problem with you becoming a vegetarian? hun, you can make your own eating decisions, you don't have to ask her.

    =]

  5. Ah, mothers. They're conditioned to believe that meat and animal products are essential for growth. Honey, ingesting hormones from cow pus isn't going to add any nourishment to your system. And dropping chicken periods from your diet is a great idea.

  6. heres what I put for another like question:

my family was kind of the same way, you have to inform them about animal suffering and make some sacrifices.  Ive been vegan for a couple of months now, it was pretty hard at first, but youve got to ease into it, eliminate a few animal products a week

if your not already a vegetarian i would suggest becoming a lacto-ove (eats dairy and eggs), then either a lacto(dairy) or ovo (eggs) vegetarian next, then cut out the last few remaining animal products.  It really helped me when i eliminated them slowly

If they still dont support you, then if you are old enough i would suggest getting a job and paying for your own food; if you are not its going to be a bit harder(im in this situation)

I make my own meals, and if my famiy is having something that i want then i will help make myself a veganized version with the leftover ingredients. Most days I will just have a stir fry on rice or some sort of meat substitute.

I also have to go to the grocery store with my mum and pick out my own foods, you have to be careful that you are getting enough vitamins, escpially B vitamins, calcium, iron , and a few others are the big ones.

There are LOTS of health benefits including reduced chance for heart disease, cancer and many others.

I would suggest doing some research on your own heres a few websites that really helped me
