Question:

I've been feeling dead inside. Help!?!?

I've been feeling very numb inside. I'm always depressed and angry. Sometimes on the verge of killing myself or running away from my parents.

I want to feel alive again. Lately I had an experience that let me relive that feeling. It felt absolutely wonderful and I need some tips on how to try to feel that more often.

I'm starting to realize that I need to change. But how should I? I haven't the first clue of how to do this on my own.

If you all can help me I'd be very grateful.

  2. The best way to help yourself is to go see a therapist. They will be able to help you to learn what your emotions feel like and what to do with them. They can work with you on what is making you depressed, angry, and numb. A therapist will not "fix" you, but they can give you tools, skills, ideas for you to try. Going to someone until the feelings of death or running away can help you protect yourself. Many times people don't get help and then regret what they end up doing.

Since you are still living with your parents, I am going to assume you are in school. Schools have counselors to help people. Going to one of them will help you clear your mind a bit so you can make a decision on what you really need.

If you are dead set that you will not go to a therapist and want to do it on your own, it is going to be a hard hard road. To start you might want to right down some goals so that you can focus. I would recommend using books. You can go to a local bookstore to look in the self-help section. There are tons of books out there. Look at one, flip through the pages stopping at times to see if it looks like something you are willing to read. Most will give you some suggestions, such as keeping a journal, checking in with yourself every so often through out the day, calming yourself, meditating, looking inside yourself, and many other things. You should try whatever the book suggests because you probably not sure which one is going to work for you.

Since you are realizing that you need to change, you are ahead of many of my clients. Once you make up  your mind to change and you put forth effort, it will happen.

    Best wishes!!!

  3. I can relate, maybe you should try to figure out what is the source or the problem that makes you feel angry and depressed. Most likely is something that is out of your control, whatever is out of your control, u just have to let it be. If its because of problems at home, i know that they can be very overwhelming, but just try to remember that you can't control that. Try to listen to some good music, not depressing, talk to some friends, try taking up a sport or hobby to relieve yourself and take out your anger. There is always a reason to live, you just have to go and find it. Try taking up a project, a hobby or goal, and try to accomplish it. Maybe you just need a distraction. I know that feeling alive is a wonderful feeling, but in life you have your ups and downs and you just have to try to find a way to always look ahead and try to motivate yourself forward. Cheer Up, Life will get better, just have patience and take some time off to reflect.

  4. find a boyfriend

u need more love in ur life.

  5. go have some fun with your friends. (unless your parents are you stopping you from hanging out with them..) but you can always have a good time with them at school.

go shopping or go to a theme park with them.

treat yourself to a new haircut.. new clothes.. shoes..

watch funny movies and laugh till you cry. you only have one life. so it might be best that you make the most of it.

how old are you ? are your parents too controlling or something? maybe it's time for you to stand up against them..

  6. i used to feel like that too

but i figured out how to fell better

it sounds like you have very low self esteem

for instance i was good at snowboarding so i tried and tried and tried to do this one trick that all my friends could do

when i finally landed it i felt wonderful inside

find something that ur good at and make a goal that u could work on

find some extra activities u could do in ur spare time

when u complete it u'll feel great

even buy urself an ice cream or a donut or something when u complete that goal

  7. It's your age. A lot of young teenagers experience this, and a lot of them seek help over the internet. Why? Because it's not serious enough to warrant professional help. I was the same, and the best advice someone gave me over yahoo questions was just to get over myself. So I did.

There are a few things you could try; like spending more time with your friends; taking up a hobby; just find ways to distract yourself. Sitting around on the computer fretting about it, I guarantee, will make it worse.

What was the experience? If there's a way to relive it, do it again. Or else, recreate it with something similar - anything's achievable if you put your mind to it. And you'll find putting your mind towards something and achieving it will make you feel more satisfied and less prone to depressive thoughts.
