The trainer is a long term family friend and decent guy. He says it will win at a big price. He's never given me a tip before and don't know if I should back it or not. What would you do?

  1. i'd have to put a couple of pound on it......... even if u done it each way u will still get something back if it came 2nd or 3rd........x*x

  2. put a tenner both ways.if he is that confident then what have you got to lose and then at the end of the day its only a tenner

  3. I notice the horse finished 4th at 14-1.

If read earlier I would have advised to follow the horse for the next three starts. The reason being that, with all the best intentions in the world, a planned win does not always happen on the day.

Sometimes another trainer or owner has 'a tip' in the same race and they just may have a better horse than yours. Sometimes the horse may just not have luck on the day such as being drawn in a disadvantaged stall, or met trouble in running.

Best advice with tips is to indeed back them on their next three runs. If the horse is fit and ready but doesn't win on the first run he should still be fit and ready on the next.

Obviously make sure the source of the tip is genuine and not part of chinese whispers.

  4. It was 30/1 on betfair, now 16/1, you should back it now and hope to lay before the off = free bet.

  5. If the horse is long odds, you don't have to bet much to win a lot. Put a small bet down and see how it goes.

  6. get on it

  7. Tt will be a classsical sods law if it wins, you will go mad.
