...she doesn't cut very well. I've let my hair grow very long but now I'm ready for a cut but I don't want her to cut it. How do I candidly, nicely and appropriately do that? Do I show up with a haircut and say nothing ? Do I tell her ahead of time that I'm finding another stylist? I like her very much, she's super sweet but her haircuts are terribly crooked and she doesn't style well either. This is so awkward and I feel bad but I can't live with a bad haircut but she is great at coloring so I don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater! I just need good suggestions and I don't want to lie, help! Thanks!

  1. I think that if you really like her, it would be best for her professional development if you explained to her exactly what you find lacking in her styling technique.  Tell her that you are concerned about the cut being uneven.  If after giving her the information, she still does an unsatisfactory job, you should move on to someone with the skills you need.  It's unfair to expect that you waste your money just to spare her feelings.
