no idea where to get one. I tried to get a replacement from my phone company (AT&T-Bell South) but was told they only provide one per household. I've been to Wal-Mart , Target and Office Depot, but no luck. I've also searched Amazon and Overstock. Any suggestions?

    ebay is your friend

  2. You may want to try again in contacting ATT/Bellsouth.  My brother  was sent 4 of them and he had to have one replaced about 3 weeks ago; so I know they send them out.  It sounds like you got a lazy rep.

  3. Wait? Only one per household? Try talking to them again. One is not enough (since Telus up in Canada gives 5 standard). They should be giving you more or at least let you buy another one.

In terms of where to buy it, try the phone company first. They have equipment meant for their lines. If not, try a place like RadioShack/TheSource. Also try calling a computer parts store (find it in the phonebook, CircuitCity/BestBuy probably won't have it). These should not cost you more than $10 a piece, but it's not unusual for retailers to really rip you for one. Actually if you look hard enough they can be cheap. My local pharmacy's electronics department has them for $6. Ebay can get you them for even less, but it's risky, complicated, and a long wait for shipping if you need it now.

FYI: A 2 wire DSL filter is the same as a SingleLine or standard DSL filter. Just in case some pushy sales man tries to upsell on something useless.
