Anyway I had to look in the back seat twice to see if my 3 year old daughter was dead or alive. My problem is I'm scared to ride in a car. I can go short distances, but I have trouble going speeds over 50 mph. And when I drive I'm scared someone is going to hit me, and kill me. If I die my daughter will have to go live in Arkansas with some bad people. (That she has never met) How do I get over this, my brother is getting married soon, and I'd love to go to the wedding.

  1. If you mean "overcoming" your fear, there is something very effective you can do...which is very simply facing your fear!

Drive carefully of course, but actually driving will help disappate your fears.

If you are still having difficulties, go to a counselor that uses CBT...they will help you work through systematic desensitization, which is extremely effective against phobias.

  2. Think of the gas you are saving at low speeds.

Keep taking short trips to get more comfy.

In case you die,  you need to have a will and leave directions as to whom gets custody of your daughter.    She doesn't have to go to those "bad people"  if you don't want her to.   Only  her other parent truly has a right to her.

Consider hiring a driver for the Arkansas trip,  take the bus or plane,  ride with another family member and split the gas costs.

  3. Keep driving your going to have to get over it else your never going to be happy. I had to get over my fears and after i finally did i felt so much better. Riding in the car with someone else is hard to do especially with your child in the car. You have to make sure if your child is in the that your riding with someone you really trust. And driving yourself with your child in the car you have to trust yourself. And think of it like this. How many years did it take you to finally have a car accident. Thats what helped me. Dont worry the lord will take care of you.
