I've never heard of it, but will it cost a lot. Is it fun? It says you stay in a Australian home. Do you bring extra money with you? Give me all the info you know

  1. The official website http://www.studentambassadors.org/ should answer all your questions.

  2. OMG!! In 2006, I went to Australia with People to People Ambassador Programs. I was only 11 at the time, and I went without my parents!! It is an amazing experience. You don't want to miss this opportunity!! You get to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef, go to the Parliament House in Brisbane, and visit the famous Sydney Opera House. Those are just some of the activities I got to do. You will love it!! If I were you, I would totally go!!

  3. I got a letter inviting me to Australia on Friday. But, I moved away from the delegation (what they call the groups that you travel with) in Columbus, Ohio that went to Australia. So now I have a chance to go on a European or Asia trip.

Basically heres what I have found out so far:

They probably got your name from a teacher who nominated you (that's how they got mine)

It's pretty expensive for the trips ($4,000-$9,000) but it includes everything including travel fares, food (three square meals a day), hotel accommodations (3-4 star hotels from what I've heard). The only things it doesn't include is like souvenirs, extra snacks, etc.

Also what I've learned is that you don't stay in one place too long. What I've been told is that you stay for about 1-2 nights in a hotel then you move on. Obviously, if your going to less countries you may stay longer in the hotels.

By getting a letter it does not automatically mean you are going on the trip. You have to get three letters of recommendation (two from teachers one from an adult that knows you well). Also you need to get an interview. From what I've heard, the interviews aren't something to be scared of they are really just trying to get to know you.

If you get accepted you'll have to go to a informational meeting in your area once a month. At these meetings you'll meet your chaperone's and the other kids going on the trip. These are not the same meeting that the letter talks about (but people have recommended that you really go to that meeting).

I hoped I helped. Remember that this is what people have told me and what they have on there website. Good luck on making it!
