I've heard rumors that there's a lot of "white trash" and rowdy folks on the cheaper cruises and that the boats are not as clean.

  1. I have heard a lot of bad things about Carnival but I went anyway and had the time of my life.  Now I would rather cruise on their ships than Royal Caribbean.

  2. I have been on many NCL cruises and you will enjoy that line.  Based on what I have heard I would skip going on CArnival as it will be a step down.

  3. I was recently on a Norwegian cruise, I found it to be civilized, spotlessly clean, well-staffed and a complete pleasure all around! The other passengers were great fun without being rowdy or obnoxious in any way. Plus the advantage of being able to dine when and where you want was great...I'd wholeheartedly reccomend Norwegian based on my experience.

I have never been on a Disney or a Princess cruise however, so I can't compare. I am a very well-travelled and fairly picky person though...and I did love Norwegian!

  4. Well, I know the Disney Cruise Line is in the top three in the world and Disney Cruises are the best in my opinion. I'm sorry to say, but after experiencing a Disney Cruise you will surely be disappointed with a Carnival or Norwegian Cruise. The only benefit of those other cruises is that they're cheaper, and the only reason they're cheaper is because the only way they can steal any business from the better cruises is to offer lower prices.

  5. No, you will not be disappointed with Norwegian, in fact, you will be disappointed with Princess and Disney after being on NCL.  The "white trash" people go on Carnival.  Norwegian is more classy.  Plus, it's a Freestyle cruise, those are the best ones.

  6. I've never been on Princess or Disney, but have been on Carnival and Norweigan.  I don't consider those cruises having a "lot of white trash".  I've never found that on any cruise I've been on.  These crusies were clean, great food, nice waiters/waitresses...everything was so nice.

As for "rowdy folks"...Carnival has younger kids, twenties, who like to party and in my opinion, that was the entertainment onboard watching their pool parties and having a blast.  I mean, don't you want to have fun?  Geeze....it's a vacation!  Don't be dead!

  7. In my humble opinion I think you would be disappointed on Carnival more so than Norweigan. I have not personally been on Norweigan but it is a cruise line I am willing to try some day. I am a frequent passenger on Princess, and have been on Carnival.

If you want a circus like atmosphere that's party party party and bright distracting decor then try Carnival. From what I've heard NCL is similar to Princess, just a step or two down .

  8. Since you've cruised Disney and Princess, you are used to a certain quality of cruise and NCL and Carnival are a step down. Other cruise lines at this level would be Celebrity and Holland-America.  If you'd like to take a step up, I'd recommend Oceania or Cunard (premium cruise lines).  The next step us from this would be the luxury, all-inclusive lines - SilverSea, Regent, Seaborne, SeaDream and Crystal.

  9. I've been on both and you might be disappointed in Carnival just because it is more catered to the wilder bunch, a topless deck etc. But Norwegian is typically lumped in with Carnival but is in reality much nicer because it is a much more mature group. Honestly we found the food on NCL to be much nicer than any other lines we have tried. Have fun!

  10. I am only familiar with Carnival, Alaska cruise in 2004. I had a ball. Went on a Carnival cruise with family many years ago, so all I know is Carnival. I, too, would be hesitant to try another, but from my experience with Carnival I wouldn't hesitate to say  GIVE IT A TRY.
