So I've been running 2 miles 3-4 times a week at around 16:20 minutes. I usually will run 1.5 miles the other days (about 12 minutes), and take one day off. Today I'm going to run 4 miles for the first time. What kind of a time should I shoot for?

  1. 35-38 minutes wont be bad. considering if you run the first two miles in about 17 minutes, that leaves you about 18 to 21 minutes to run another two. your last two wont be as quick as your first to but if you have been running for a while then they shouldnt be to far off.  depending on your endurance. it def shouldnt take you more then 44 minutes at the most. that would be 11 minutes a mile and you said you could run 2 in about 16, so thats about 8 per mile. if it takes you more then 44 minutes, you need to go back to two miles a day and about once or twice a week run three miles and work your way up.

  2. You should relax and not worry about your time.

4 miles will seem farther than just twice 2 miles since you have not been running longer than 2 miles.

You should run easy, and be content to finish without feeling like a whipped puppy.
