I have a 4 months until i go into the army reserve, and then a year until active duty. Will running for this amount of time prepare me? I plan to go to airbourne, and ranger school. Then sf, i know its not easy but i'm determined.

  1. It is sure better than waiting until you get to boot camp.  Good job.  I also recommend asking your recruiter what the maximum time you have to run your PRT run in.  The Army I think runs three miles and you have to be able to run this distance in a maximum time based on your age and gender.  You don't get that much time so I would look into what time you need to meet and start working on that as well.  You also may not want to take two days off in a row.  Try taking Wednesday and Saturday off or some similar combination so your body does not get too much down time.  Boot camp you will be running everyday.  Good luck.

  2. My husband has PT for an hour every morning. When they run, it's for an hour - sometimes longer depending on the distance. They run from 3 miles to 8 miles.

Instead of concentrating on the time spend running, look at the distance you are covering. Also work on your sit ups and push ups. Push ups are VERY special in BCT!! It would do you good to practice those in your own time and be very good by the time you go to BCT.
