How many people are usually shortlisted in a selection process - 3 to 5?

Thank you.

  1. This really depends on how many people applied and the standard of application. I have interviewed on lots of occasions, sometimes as many as 8 people, sometimes as few as 2, it really depends.

Well done for getting to this stage though, now go sell yourself

  2. No one here can really tell you. Companies nowadays can have hundreds of applicants for relatively mundane jobs and many will short list more than once. Anyone offered an interview is basically short listed in practice when you think about it. A short list could be anything from 2 to 10 so you are, a least, in with a good chance considering you started out as 1 in probably hundreds.

  3. Could be any number - usually around 6 depending on the job.  But all you need to think about is that one of them is you.  It only takes one person to fill a job and that could be you. You can have no idea whether all of the others are completely qualified or whether in fact they have no chance at all, so: go sell yourself!

The job is yours for the taking.
