Any thoughts on what selection criteria we should have, and also what events we could do to raise money would also be greatly appreciated.

  1. Nominations then a vote - job done

Our company did an "olympics" with wacky events which u paid to enter. Raffles, you can have people promise something like washing a car, tending a garden etc and get people to bid on it.  Car wash at a super market.

  2. Local Air Ambulance ?

You could hold car boot sales, tombola`s, sponsored cycle rides, a treasure hunt etc. Getting any ideas yourself now ?

  3. A local charity, especially one that spends little on overhead & administrative fees is most likely to appeal to the employees + provide assistance to those in your own community.  Check out your local women's shelter or toy drive.  Social Services always has needs for the foster children in their care.  Perhaps w/some thought & input from your fellow employees, your company could adopt a local group so that you could continue support annually.  How about sponsoring scholarships that includes internships @ your company?  What about your local after-school program?  Get creative & figure out how to get the most for your contribution & involve the individual employees in your company.  To see what I did by founding The Shoebox Project, go to <www.shoeboxproject.org.googlepages.com>...  Perhaps something like that would generate a real team spirit.  Good luck!

  4. Go local - I mean, pick a charity that's local to you and get the community involved. Local paper/ radio coverage is good too.

In terms of ideas for fundraising, get a group together and throw some ideas into the pot - it all depends on what experiences and skills people have and you never know what some people have!

  5. Pick a charity which has affected you.

For example, if there has been any cases of cancer in your family or any one else in the group, pick a charity which deals and helps with this.

  6. Hello John,

When trying to choose a charitable foundation is best for you to do your homework. Investigate the charitable organization (s), online.  By utilizing a website such as " Guide Star".

If you're company is looking for a charitable donation to be utilized as a tax write off. The charitable  foundation needs to hold a 501(c)3 IRS tax ruling for your company to get the benefit of a charitable tax write off.

I would like to entice you to donate your corporate funds to America's Forgotten Children, because of patient privacy laws, our  medically fragile foster infants & children are not able to tell their stories. My  Nonprofit 501(c)3 foundation tells their stories, several AIW nurses have adopted these Medically Fragile Foster Care Children- by adopting them,  Thus we are able to tell the public their amazing stories. Believe me.  There are many infants and children that are currently in our neonatal intensive care  and our pediatric intensive care units across America that are slated to go into nursing institutions or group homes for the medically fragile. Within these environments too many of these precious infants will soon be diagnosed with the condition known as "failure to thrive"( they  give up the will to live). Furthermore, our foster care statistics show that these infants and toddlers will be placed in approximately 15 foster / group homes before they age out at 18 years of age.
