I've been told I sing horribly but I don't want to stop. Can I improve without taking lessons?

My family tells me I sing very badly but I like trying to sing and don't want to stop. However it is very hard for me to find a time I can practice since I have 5 people in my house and I have to wait for when they are all gone. What should I do?

  1. You need sing on key and not a tone off! Lsten to Jo Stafford & Darlene Edwards! They are the same person, except Darlene sings a tone off or half tone! She has PERFECT PITCH!

  2. i think maybe you need to find an easy song to start out with like "Row Row your Boat" thats the first song I started to sing. That helps with your pitch and tone!! Maybe try some voice exercises as well such as humming, and place your hand on your diaphram and go ha ha ha ha ha. That helps. Also, you may be singing through your nose instead of your diaphram. So when you sing place your hand on your diaphram and if you don't feel anything while doing that than you probably are singing through your nose. I am sure you don't sing too bad. It takes lots of time and practice... trust me.

  3. rap.

  4. If you really want to sing well, it wouldn't hurt to have singing lessons, where they will teach you breathing techniques and other excerices to help improve your vocal skills.
