Everyone has been like "You have a foreign exchange student staying at your house for 2 weeks?" and acting like so freaked out about it. Since I'm in German, students in my class got to sign up for this and 2 outta 20 were chosen cuz they have German classes in high school [I was in middle school]. So the 2 kids chosen at the middle school were me and this other kid whos a douchebag. So he's coming in September and staying here. So basically he'll be spending most of his time with my family cuz I have band and have to travel everywhere for band cuz we have practices and football games and parades. So people have been like that's not a good idea. So what I'm asking is if it was a good idea to sign up for this. I am supposed to go to Germany but my parents won't let me travel alone at the age of 14 and they don't like the idea of me flying overseas. So good idea.....or bad? btw, he has to follow me everywhere, listen to my rules, and yeah. At least I get to miss school some days. =]

  1. Think of it this way: if you did not sign up for it, this student who really wants to go somewhere and experience something new and different might not be able to.

I don't know why people are freaking out. Maybe it's just because they don't have the confidence to have a total stranger with them for two weeks. To me, it sounds like a great opportunity for both of you. Ideally, you'd figure out a way to have him with you at band at least now and then. It doesn't seem right to have him come to spend time with English-speaking kids and the English-speaking kid isn't there.

  2. that was really nice of u and people who dont like the idea are proably just super sticious or something

  3. If you already did it, there's nothing you can really do about it now.

  4. Personally i love the idea i always wanted to take in a foreign student....but u should do what you think is right but also put yourself in his shoes...like would you like to be traveling with a stranger or would you like to stay at home with a whole bunch of people that you don't know all alone...keep these things in mind.
