I've been trying to find reviews or info on LTD snowboards. Does someone own one or knows about them?

My lil sister came across a LTD (limited) Women's Secret 07Snowboard( beginer board). She loved the design and now wants to get it.It's her first snowboard so we don't want to get anything too expensive. The price is fairly reasonalbe it's $200. Before we actually buy it we would like to know if anyone owns an LTD board and what you think of them. Are they cheap because they aren't good quality? Are these boards designed for beginer riders to learn and then move on to a better board? Any info regarding LTD would be greatly appreciated. We just don't want to end up buying something that is not worth it.

  1. LTD is totally a beginner brand so it should suit her just fine for a season or two.  After that she might be able to pass it off to a friend and recoup a few bucks.  In the $200 range of boards it's par for the course.

For a first board it's almost a good idea to cheap out.  Of the setup it may be the most initial cost but they have the shortest lifespan.  If she's done growing (more or less) buy nice boots and nice bindings because those can be put on almost any board she owns down the road.

Stay away from fad technologies like click/step in bindings, K2 Cinch or flows.  With the exception of step ins the others are new technologies that aren't really fully tested and accepted in the sport.  Step ins were a big deal for a year or two but are virtually unused these days.  Traditional ratchet strap are your best bet.

If she's got her eye on that $200 deck and she's a beginner I say go for it.  It'll get her into the sport and that's the best!

  2. a friend of mine had one, to give you an idea, rather than reselling it, he made a bench out of it....they aren't the best and def for beginners....however, when considering a snowboard, too many people become occupied w/the graphics.  if you're looking for a good board, graphics should be the last thing on your mind.
