I want to get that one. i've been using pinnacle studios to edit my Mini-DVs. If i upgrade to this HD camcorder, which uses AVCHD, will anything change besides how i upload? I will mostly be using the SD function not the mini-dvd function. i just drag the file off the SD card and it'll let me edit like a mini-dv tape? THANKS

  1. an upgrade is an ironic term when it comes to hard drive cameras compared to mini dv.

did you know that a hard drive cam has poorer image quality compared to mini dv? it's substantially lower.

also, if you have a problem with your HDD what do you do? you have to get the machine serviced whereas with a tape - just put a new one in and away you go.

avchd is a nightmare to work with unless you have the right gear which means stuffing around a lot.

you may want to rethink mini dv and go with a HD cam that suits mini dv format. here is why:

    - better resolution and able to record standard AND high definition.

    - better archiving.

    - cheaper to use and run.

think it over.  hope it helps.
