Question:

I've been whining in sleep. Whats that about?

My boyfriend has told me I'm whining in my sleep. I'll whine for a long time on one breath and then exhale the remainder of air in one big burst. It seems I toss and turn afterwards. It must be waking me up. I'm always tired and I've been having neck problems. Any idea what it might be? Or if my symptoms are related?

  1. Sounds like you may have sleep apnea.  The neck problem may be from a too soft a bed and improper size pillow for support.  The issues are likely unrelated, but there is a chance they could be.  See a doctor for testing and help.  Sleep apnea is not easily tested without going through a sleep study.

  2. I bet your whine is actually a snore.  Are you overweight by any chance, or perhaps sleeping in a weird position???? There's a snoring mouthpiece that may work for you. If you ahve health insurance, they can do a sleep study on you and see what the issues are.

This is called sleep apnea, and yes, it can make you VERY tired!!! Everytime you go into a deep sleep, you do this, and it wakes you up a bit, so you never get that restorative sleep.
