I've broken my arm and was told today by my manager that while I'm off work sick I shouldn't leave home during my contracted working hours. Is she right?

  1. No, she isn't. She's an idiot.

  2. That's absolute nonsense. You can do whatever you like if you have a valid sick line. In my workplace, if you have a proper sick note that is for two weeks, you are perfectly at liberty to go on holiday, dive to the pub, visit relatives, anything you want to do. You have been excused working for a certain amount of time and what you do in that time is totally up to you. Your employer has no say in the matter!!!!

  3. No way!!!  Obviously if you're a bricklayer, you shouldn't be out building walls while on the sick but a broken arm doesn't stop you from doing everyday things.

  4. No, he is full of it!

The doctor says your unfit for work, what you do outwith that is your business.

For example, you might  be off work with depression but going out and socialising would be good for you!

  5. no - i have just had an op on shoulder work for a big company and

been signed off sick for 3 months. you are unable to do your job

that's why you are signed off., what are they going to do watch your house. what if you are getting medication or seeing the doc. speak

to someone in hr/personnel and get it in writing that you are allowed

out. you are not under house arrest. cheek.

good luck - it boring when everyone's at work and you are home

    and can't do much

  6. no it's an old fashioned idea and no one seems certain if it was true or not, you are allowed basically to go where you want including on holiday if you want to your are certified as being unfit for work not play

  7. Take no Bloody notice of her .she having you on Probably jealous of you being off.

I see there are a couple of troll managers doing thumbs down get a life
