Question:

I've caught my 6 year old sister masturbating?

I've caught her at it a couple of times, and just asked "What are you doing?" to which she would say "nothing" and stop.

I don't have a problem with masturbation, but I think that 6 years old might be a bit young, is it not? Should I sit her down and talk to her about it?

  1. Its a difficult one, she probably doesn't know what she's doing and its probably innocent, the only thing I would be concerned about is as a couple of others have said in case someone's shown her to do it, maybe try and speak to her, or tell your mum and she can speak to her, just to make sure there's nothing more to it.

  2. you didnt though did you

  3. She may not fully know or understand what she's doing but she knows that it feels nice and makes her happy. Don't make a fuss, she's just exploring her body.

  4. of course s HE IS FAR TOO YOUNG TO DO THAT, ONLY PEOPLE WHO ARE SEXUALLY EXCITED m********e, AND I THINK SERIOUSLY YOU SHOULD TELL YOUR PARENTS, BECAUSE THATS A SIGN OF TROUBLE OR RAPE, SEE SHE THINKS IN HER HEAD THAT IF YOU DO IT, ITS OK FOR HER TO DO IT, IF YOU DID IT IN FRONT OF HER, IF YOU DID NOT DO THIS IN FRONT OF HER, THAEN ITS A PARENT, OR THE DOCTOR, SOMTIMES ITS THE DOCTOR, THATS WHAT AHPPENED TO ME, I STARTED MASTUBATING BECAUSE MY DOCTOR TURNED ME ON, AND I WAS 12, MY MOTHER WENT BESERK, REALLY IAM QUITE SUPRISED THAT TEENS m********e NOW A DAYS, THEY ARE EVEN TOO YOUNG, YOU GOT TO STOP THIS BEHAVIOR NOW, BECAUSE SHE CAN HURT HERSELF PHYSICALLY, IF YOU DONT TELL YOUR PARENTS THEN TELL SOMEONE WHO CAN TRY TO STOP HER, AND TAKE ACTION, IF YOUR PARENTS ARE NICE AND UNDERSTABLE, THEY WILL TAKE ACTION, SEE CHILDREN ARE LIKE SPONGES, THEY LEARN FROM PEOPLE IN THE HOUSE WHAT THERE DOING, AND THEY THINK THATS ITS A RIGHT THING TO DO, FOR AN EXAMPLE, I WAS AROUND ALOT OF  SMOKERS , WHEN I WAS 6 YEARS OLD,  SOO I WENT TO A LIT CIGGERETTE AND TRIED TO PUT IT IN MY  MOUTH, THOUGHT IT WAS THE THING TO DO, I GOT YELLED AND SMACKED MY HAND BECAUSE OF IT, AND SOMEONE YELLED NOOOO, WELL, IF MY GROWN UP FRIENDS SMOKE WHY CANT I, THATS WHAT I THOUGHT,   h**l I WAS 6, OK, I WAITED TILL I WAS 18 AND THEN I SMOKED, BUT THATS THE EXAMPLE, PLEASE GET HELP NOW

  5. No mind your own business leave her alone, if she wants to talk to you she will.  Don't make it a big issue for her.

  6. masturbation is perfectly normal behaviour.

  7. speak 2 yur parents

  8. I have heard of kids doing this as young as toddlers. Kids are innocent, they don't know what they are doing and don't see anything sexual about it, they just know if it feels nice. As another person said though, you might want to be a bit suspicious that maybe somebody else has got her into this behaviour, it could be a warning sign

  9. When I was 6 all ma friends were saying summat like dat... they juz sed it feels nice. Dont worry about it, shes fine.

  10. Id say just leave her. Its not like she knows, Shes just exploring her body.  If you say something now and make her feel awkward about it, then it could stay with her for a while and thats the last thing you want, just let her grow up at her own paste

  11. If this question is real which I 'm not completely convinced that it is......Then I would say that you are her sister, not your mother.  It's not your place to say anything because you don't know what your parents feel about the subject.  I would also say that it's normal and the best thing to do is ignore the behavior.  Making a big deal out of it will embarrass the child and make them feel shameful.

  12. Learn how to knock on your sister's bedroom door before barging in on her.

There is nothing wrong with your sister.  And no, it is not your place to sit her down and talk to her about anything.  She isn't too young for self discovery, in fact most toddlers do it.  The one who seems to have the problem is you.

  13. OMG some of the answers here are enough to make me sick! It is a NORMAL and HEALTHY activity and it is very well known and scientifically documented that just about every animal on this planet has engaged in masturbation. For GOD sakes people! As young as 2 and 3 (possibly younger but I don't know for a fact-ony what I have seen myself) I have a 5 and 3 year old. Its part of growing up and it does not IN ANY WAY point to any signs of abuse! PLease leave this up to your parents because how it is handled is crucial in the healthy development of her sexuality. Lets be realistic here...she may be 6 now, but in 10 years, 20 years, she'll be old enough to make her own decisions about her own sexuality...don't we want to make sure she isn't traumatized so she can enjoy this part of life? This country is so backwards! s*x is EVERYWHERE in this country yet th mere thought of acting on human nature is frowned upon. What shes' doing is exceptable and asking her what she is doing will possibly embarass er and make her feel like she is doing something wrong, and that is not what we should be doing.

  14. Yes, I think you should sit her down and talk to her about it and make sure she is actually doing what you think she's doing. Get her to show you again to be absolutely sure.

(I'm not too sure this a genuine question).

  15. difficult one, has some older person been showing her something? be careful with any questions?

  16. Are you sure that it's masturbation? Maybe she has an itch like a yeast infection or something. Kids at that age don't always have the best bathroom habits so I'd say it was an itch long before I'd jump to the conclusion that you are.

And yeah, 6 seems way too young for that so I would talk to your mom about it and let her know what you've seen.

    Good luck.

  17. I wouldn't say that she was too young because she doesn't understand it as "masturbation"; she just explores herself and it feels nice.

There's nothing wrong in her doing that and I'm not convinced that you should talk to her - yet.

If she is doing this in the privacy of her own bedroom then that's fine.  We all should learn about ourselves.  The only point at which you should be concerned is if she starts to do this in front of people, or in a situation where you as an adult feel that it's inappropriate.

  18. Yeah right

  19. i did it and i was four she is innocent leave her alone
