I've got 1000+ baseball cards, should I sell them on ebay as lots/individual pieces or as a collection?

I have 1000+ baseball cards. Most of my baseball cards are Topps 2000 although I have some from Topps of other years and other manufacturers. I have taken all the Topps 2000 common cards and divided them into lots of players whose last names start with a specific letter. I have taken some of the cards like 20th century's best and season highlights and put them into lots of their own. Then I took my lots of cards from other manufacturers. I don't know what to do about my holographics. My question is, do you think it would be more profitable to sell them on ebay as one collection or in the lots I have it. I am thinking that the common cards would sell better if I packaged them in with the good cards and said, "You want these then you buy the collection" and besides, do people want to pay shipping on top of some common lots. Anyway, I am just wondering what other users think.

  1. Id go with individual.

  2. Better chance of selling as a collection; you can up the price if you do this as well.

  3. Sell them as a lot.

Unless you have some rare vintage cards you are not going to make any money posting them on eBay. Considering the fees and the time you'll have to spend posting and shipping different cards it is not worth it.

  4. Spend some time watching other baseball card sales on Ebay and see where the market it.  Are people bidding on lots or are the individual ones making the money.  Do this before jumping into it and you'll be glad you did!  The trends on Ebay shift!
