I've got a horrible itchy rash all over my chest!?

I've had it since Sunday morning and my skin is dry and red and really itchy and starting to feel sort of scaly. I cant think of anything I would be allergic to, except that I was wearing a fleece top which had a bit of my cat's hair on it. I have tried anti histamine tablets and eurax cream, neither of which has helped and now it seems to be spreading to my neck. Weirdly, I went to my dad's on Sunday afternoon and on Sunday night he rang to say he had got a rash on his arms and legs too - I didn't know rashes could be catching! Any idea what this is or if I should be worried?

call your dermatologist and also try some rash cream

Could it be poison ivy?  And are you sure it's nothing you are allergic to?  Just make sure you don't scratch it, because that will irritate it even more.  I'd consider going to a doctor, or getting some rash cream for it.

Rashes if they are caused by something like poison ivy or poison oak can be catching. Perhaps the two of you were exposed to a common irritant. If you're concerned, see a physician.
