  1. All in all, South Africa is good. Like every country, it has it's downfalls ... crime is bad in SA but if you're careful you should be ok.

On the good side, the weather is fantastic. Even the winters are mild compared to the northern hemisphere. SA also has a lot of diversity ito the places ... there are beautiful beaches, a mountain range, a desert, large cities and bush all in one country.

I guess you'll just have to wait and see!

  2. Well I have heard that it is in Africa somewhere.

In the southern section I believe.

(Oh and it has a racist, incompetent President who is helping drive the place to ruin)

  3. The country is now a bit in a slump ..... good luck, if you try hard you can make it here, it is just like any other country in the wolrd, we just have a lot of crime.

  4. Ask Captain Graeme Smith southafrica cricket player......

    he might tell u

  5. Reading minnie mouse and Linda's accounts...sounds like South Africa is a terrible place to live - because you live under duress, from both these accounts...just one accepts it and the other tolerates it. I live in a place that is becoming like that. I notice patterns and trends...and have realised that some people need more policing than others.

  6. Tam Tam,

South africa is not bad, its the people that make it bad.  As you can see from your answers there's a lot of negativity amongst my fellow citizins and thats the problem.  Yes the crime is a bit bad but if you follow a few guidelines you'll be ok.  Some place in the states have bad areas where crime is high, unemplyment is high and the same goes for south africa.  Here's a few tips to follow:

    1.  When driving always lock your doors and drive with the windows up.

    2.  Dont drive late at night.  If you do, make sure you're not alone.

    3.  Stay away from certain areas, especially the black areas,  nothing personal but its just that the unemployment rate is higher amongst them and so some of them are forced to make ways for them in order to survive.  Its a pity they have to turn to crime.

    4.  When going to nightclubs or bars dont just chat with any woman, make sure she's not with a guy as the guys here take

offense easily and when drinking tend to want to show off their "strenght".

    5.  When using public transport, busses are the safest.

    6.  If you find a place to stay, make sure it has proper security, alarm systems are your safest bet.

    7.  Dont invite strangers into your home.

    8.  If you have your own vehicle the same rule as the one for your home applies.

    9.  Dont give anybody a lift either.

    10.  When walking in public, dont show off any jewelry or cellphones as we have a lot of snatch & grabbers.

    11.  Avoid qiute areas at night for instance parks.

Thats more or less the basics.  I might have overlooked a few but if I did then its only because they do not apply yet in m own life.  I've lived in south africa all my life and i'm still ok.

  7. One of the most dangerous in the world.

  8. Hi there from South Africa!

All I can say is Good luck 2 u, this place is slowing falling apart. We have a high high crime, rape and murder rate. Recently I heard we were listed 2nd dangerous in the world. Around here u lock everything up, and ur house looks like a jail, so that at least u can feel safe inside. Also lots of unemployed ppl around, not enough work 4 every1, so plenty of beggers around every corner.... Our president ye, what can I say... time 2 vote 4 a new president.

Good points - we see the sun at least third of the year........

  10. The richer parts are okay.

You really got to watch out for the more poor areas though.
