The one I've been offered now has almost double the pay, less hours, it's close to my college and the staff are better. A far cry from where I'm at now.

I'm going to ring up tomorrow to tell them I've been offered a job but how do I actually go about handing my notice in. I think it's 3 wks notice I have to give....do I have to have something written down on paper or what?

Thanks :)

  1. Buy your current boss a CD.  (Johnny Paycheck's "Take This Job and Shove It")   That's all you have to do,  He'll get the message.

  2. yes you always have to have it on paper to make it effectual. You just say that an opportunity has come up and you have decided to accept it, you thank them for the time that you have been there and wish them success for the future!

  3. just write a letter saying i hereby provide the required notice of _____ for termination of my employment. if you liked working there include some nice bits about how you've enjoyed it, and maybe include some jokes :)

    good luck

  4. No no no stripper candy gram. That way you can enjoy it also!

  5. Usually there is between 1 and 4 weeks notice depending on how long you have worked there.

It is best that you have something written(you keep a copy) so that when it come to your wages you have gone by the book both verbally and by written notification.

Oh by the way Congrats on your job .

  6. You right a short letter, stating your intention to leave and the date your going to leave on as per your contract. Some people state the reason they are leaving or Thank them for their time, but its not necessary. Sign it, and take a copy for yourself. You might have to take the letter in instead of phoning, usually a contract will stipulate that you do it in writing.

  7. yes you should put it in writing

  8. no one is "required" to give 3 wks notice - if it's only a part time job, one week is enough - 2 is normal - a simple 2 sentence note is all that's needed - thank them for the opportunity, but a better job came along

  9. 2 week notice and you put something in writing... say something like thank you for allowing me to work here however I have been offered other job that I am wanting to take. please accept my letter of resignation as of today. My last day will be ...............

  10. send it via singing telegram~!!

  11. Yea just type it up saying You are leaving the business. Your manager might help you write it out.

Good luck in your new job!

  12. Yes you have to write a letter to them saying that you will be leaving on a certain date - by law you MUST give them a MINIMUM of 4 weeks notice of your intention to leave.

If you don't write it down, they can say you left without giving them any notice, and they can keep all the money owed to you since the last pay day, demand money back from you and if you are really unlucky they will take you to court and sue you for breach of contract.

  13. yes, you have to write it down- always leave a paper trail to cover your back.

    Just say something like:

    Dear ___________

Please accept this as my formal resignation. My final date of working will be.....

    Many thanks for the opportunity

    yours sincerely

    __________

  14. Type the letter then ask to have a word with your manager. Explain that you've been offered another job and that you're going to take it, and that you've prepared a written letter of notice. Say that you've enjoyed your time with them and ask if they'd be prepared to give you a reference in the future.

  15. forget ur notice just walk out and say they treat you badly ...

  16. yes u have to write it down,

just write to boss, i am handing in my notice as of today and shall work my 3 weeks notice so that my employment ends on this date

and then if u want u could write, i enjoyed my time working here something, like that
