Hey Guys,

I travelled from India to US for abt a week and came back last week. Now its been more than 7 days and I am still unable to sleep at nite.I keep looking at the walls whole nite and manage to fall asleep only at abt 5 or 6 in the morning.Subsequently I sleep till noon and my entire day's schedule is ruined. Also I am feeling tired all the time.

I even took a sleeping pill 2 days back during the nite so that I cld sleep in the nite like normal ppl.But it didnt help.I slept thro the nite and kept myself awake the whole of next day but i still cldnt fall asleep next nite:(

What do i do? I am literally going mad.Is it a mental block I have developed? Please give some tips to get back my normal sleep-wake schedule.

  1. If you stay up at night you better stay up during the day, don't go to sleep at 12 pm.  You will be tired enough to sleep at night then.

  2. No pills.  Just force yourself to the local schedule.  Sleep on a normal schedule WILL come.  Jet lag is the pits!  Sorry for your suffering.

  3. dont take any sleeping pills.

    try winding down earlier

    have a warm bath

  4. I get this a lot of the times when I travel.  If I don't adjust after a couple of days, I try this trick and it never fails:

Have your last meal around 4PM.

You can still have liquids except for caffeine.  Also try to limit sugary drinks.

Around 6:30PM, take a sleeping pill.

    Go to bed at 8:00PM.

You'll wake up feeling good as new and your internal clock will be reset.

    I hope this helps.

  5. get yourself a bottle of night nurse then have a swig out the bottle about an hour b4 u go 2 bed this will work i used it wen i first started working nights 2 help myself get a routine started . its bad if u dont get ur sleep
