It's an RCA CTC175/6/7 series. One of the big ones in the wooden case thing. It's really dusty, but I like, undusted it.

Anyways, when I turn it on anymore, all it shows is a line across it.

Any idea how I can fix it without having a professional do it?

  1. Ok, it has lines across it, does it have any sound when connected to an antenna?  Are all the channels the same?  When you blew it out, did you use compressed air to clean out the complete chassis?  A line across the screen indicates that you have lost your Vertical Deflection.  That can be  several things.  It could be your Vertical Deflection I.C. chip, electrolytic capacitors in the vertical deflection circuit, low voltage power supply.  If you have no experience in troubleshooting a TV, you may not have a choice and will have to have a competent technician take a look at it.  Sorry.

  2. Your screwed.

  3. In addition to Gilloz !!!! If the set was ok before dusting I would suggest that you knocked the vert amp chip which probably had bad joints to begin with ! There fore all that is needed is to resolder the chip. If you can not do it your self then you must get someone who can !
