I've been having pain and swelling in the region below my ears, especially my right ear, it's lasted for a few days now. Any ideas what this might be?

  1. The swelling makes me think it might be mastoiditis.  Is there any discharge from the ear? Fever?  You should definitely see a doctor.  If it is an infection, you need to "nip it in the bud " before it spreads further yet.

  2. SEE A DOCTOR.

    Seriously.

  3. If you are talking about pain in the mastoid, the bone just behind your ear, and a little lower, then I would say: see an Ear specialist, it can be a sign of an infection in the middle ear, and a potent Antibiotic may be necessary.

  4. ear ache

  5. I think I know what you're talking about. It may have something to do with your teeth.

  6. Get your pencil out of there, now!

  7. I have TMJ which is a jaw problem... but the pain usually radiates up to my ear... either right below it, or actually inside my ear.

I have troubles turning my head or opening and closing my jaw.  My pain is so intense though that I take narcotics sometimes to get it to stop... it doesn't sound like your pain is that bad though.

If it does seem related to your jaw, then I would encourage neck excersizes to loosen the muscles in that area.  You might have slept wrong, or maybe you're grinding or clamping down your jaw at night from stress.

    Good luck!

  8. It sounds like a gland to me.

Have you for any reason been throwing up a lot recently?

    Talk to a doctor.

  9. Your ear was probably wet and you went into the cold or wind blew on it too much. It should heal soon.

  10. Why are you seeking medical advice from someone you do not know.  this could be serious . Go to the doctor

  11. you may have a rodent nesting there
