I've got white smoke coming out of my T2 VW camper, can you explain?

white smoke pouring out of my '73 devon. Air-cooled 1600, only 3000 miles on the clock.

any ideas? cylinder head gasket? piston rings shot?

  1. pretty easy to see walk around back and smell it it could be either smell oil then ring smell coolant then it head gasket


  2. White smoke means usually water into the gas. So I would say piston rings.

  3. Where are you? If it's winter it is prolly nothing but condensation. For everybody else a 1973 T2 aircooled VW doesn't have either headgaskets or a water based cooling system, hence the word AIRCOOLED in the question.
