Well I have(had now) an outside cat. Ive had him for about 10 years now so hes probably around 12 years old. Just recently we had some new neighbors move into the rent house next door. for about a week I rarely saw my cat and noticed his food bowl wasn't emptying. then one day I saw my cat at the neighbors house and he was eating a big can of tuna fish. I looked around their porch and there were like 6 empty cans of tuna fish laying around. So I picked up my cat and brought him in the house. That night I let my cat out, and the next morning a moving truck was leaving their house. Ever since then I haven't seen my cat. Its been a week now since my cat went missing and the neighbors moved. Do you think the neighbors took the cat?

  1. yea they might have. if my neighbors did that i would kick their butts. i love my kittens...

  2. yes they probably did because they probly think that the cat didnt have an owner so i guess they've stolen your cat. especially because the family must of been attached to the cat and they've been feeding it . they probably thought it was homeless so they took it with them :[

  3. They may have.  Some people consider any outside animal a stray.  And technically, it is if it's not wearing a collar.  This is another reason you should not allow your cats outside, you take a chance that someone else is feeding it (or poisoning it if they don't want strays in their yard).  Perhaps they thought it was a stray and wanted to give it a good home.  Put up flyers in the neighborhood, ask around if they've seen your cat - and if the house next door is for sale, call the realtor and explain the situation and ask her/him to contact the owners to see if they did "accidentally" take your cat.  If the house was being rented, ask the owner the same thing about the previous resident.

If you get your cat back, consider microchipping your cat (it's the only legal way of proving the cat is indeed yours).  Also, leave him inside, it'll prevent this from happening again.

  4. Track them down and get your cat back.

If anyone took my kitties, they'd be sorry.

  5. They very well could have.  I know that you are trying to justify letting your cat out-of-doors (letting him out for 10 years), but if you would have kept your cat indoors, you would still have him.  I am not siding with the cat thieves, they should not have taken your cat (if they did), especially after you confronted them about feeding your cat.
