a couple of violin players I've met through mariachi attend ucla and they told me it wasn't as difficult to be accepted to ucla as a music major. I plan on applying for transfer and have to decide on a major. I was going to stick with history but I've been interested in being a music major as well. If i don't like it i can just try and change my majors?

also this question doesn't just apply towards ucla but also other uc's

  1. What about Quarterback for the UCLA football team. I heard they're looking for one.

  2. Maybe those violin players are extremely talented; the transfer admit rate for the music major at UCLA for Fall 2008 was 3.3% and the application process has a mandatory audition requirement.

Transfer admission rate varies by major at all UC campuses.  You can look up transfer admit rate by major on each UC campus' web site, but the information is not always easy to find.

  3. From what I understand as a UCD grad, your choice of major does not play a role in admission. In fact, a lot of schools have impacted majors, so people admitted to UCSB who want to study, say, biology, are admitted as pre-biology and cannot be a biology major until they pass certain classes.
