I've heard that crime is skyrocketing in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Is this true?

Buenos Aires is a big city, and there are typical problems of big cities. There are crime in some suburbs , now less than 5or 6 years ago.

You have to know where are you going and be careful at night, how you move around the city and try to carry no too much cash.

Now if I am visiting NY I wont be walking in a Bronx alley at 3am with a 1000 dollar in my pocket. I think you understand what I'm talking about. In Bs As is the same, take care keep your passport and most of your cash in the security box of your hotel. Go out with only the cash you are thinking to spend and one credit card.

If you can, use travelers checks and have the address of the local office for change it.

Change you USA dollars for local currency (3.17 pesos/u$d)In a bank or Change Agency

Make some friends to go out with, They can help you choosing secure transportation to diff points of interest, use taxi or remiss services(both very cheap) at nighttime.

Ive been hearing that for so long, so who knows if its true...i think that the crime is mostly contained in certain areas.

My parents just went there recently and some ppl scammed my uncle in this very strange scheme out of i believe a couple hundred dollars. They basically called my uncle at his house and told him that they were holding my parents hostage ( i swear to god)...of course this wasnt true, but he panicked and sent out money. Apparently things such as this have been going on for quite some time.

Ha im going in may, lets hope it goes well for me.
