I've heard that if you rub a cats ears towards the tip it is a similar sensation to rubbing a persons temples?

Is this true? Or just an old wives tale?!?!?

  1. I don't know about that, but my boyfriend gently rubs our cat's ears and she loves it--like, thumb on the inner part and other fingers outside.  He also gives her front paw massages.......hates the back feet touched.

  2. It's a very relaxing thing for most cats (if they don't like it they'll let you know).  The inside of the ear, where you would put your thumb on the inside, is a stress reduction point in accupressure and can help calm a cat or reduce pain for a while if rubbed in circles lightly--thumb on the inside and first finger on the outside.

I've used the technique for 15 minutes on one of our cats who was in pain from surgery and he relaxed significantly.  Not sure how long the benefit lasts, but you can try it.
