I've heard that in 2008 the NRLis going to introduce the crowd to the players rather than the other way around

Didn't realise the fan base had dropped off that badly over there, it's still going strong over here in the UK (well in the North it is anyway - we prefer Union in the South).

In answer to your question, the NRL will not do any introduction of Players or Spectators at any of their grounds in 2008. They have instead left this task to the Cab Driver.

I hear the crowd figures will be lower than the amount of inter-changes allowed in a game of AFL next year. Nothing like a well earned breather every few minutes.
