  1. Walking is much better than running as it does not cause as much impact on the joints and bones.

  2. running on a road isn't good for the knees either, its still putting shock on the joints

  3. yes its perfectly correct ................i can suggest u to go for a walk (  i suggest) its ur wish .....................but walking in tredmill for old people is not suggested

  4. Running anywhere (except inside a pool...filled with water, of course...not empty) is pretty much detrimental to your joints and spine simply because of the repeated impact.  Try the elliptical machine instead.  You can cruise along forever and it SEEMS easier because there's virtually zero impact...not any that your aching bones will notice anyway.  People run, though, because it's mentally liberating and you can't deny the powerful cardiovascular benefits...like anything else we can do it's got its pros and cons.  We simply have to determine for ourselves if the benefits outweight the down side.

  5. Running on the treadmill is way better than running on the road for the knees because of the shock absorbtion.

It's just way more boring.  I run the road whenever I can and hate the treadmill, although a lot of my friends who've run a lot longer time than me run the treadmill 'cause the road is too tough on their knees/hips/ankles.

Take some Glucosamine, I do and I a lot of older guys think it helps.  (I'm 48 and run 5 miles in 45 mins about once each two weeks).

  6. Compared to running on a regular track or road, it's better... because the treadmill gives a bit with each foot fall. Roads do not. But if you have been advised to do more low-impact exercise because of your back and/or knees, then walking is better yet. An elliptical trainer is another option.
