I wanted to know whether we have to perform wudhu before doing so and also what do we have to say while in Sajdah?

  1. This sujud doesn't have all the requirements of the usual sujuds. It can be done at anytime, anyplace (which is clean) whenever u have something to thank Allah about. U don't have to perform wudhu. U don't have to be wearing a headscarf.

Doing it once is just enough.

Ash-Shaukani said: "There is nothing in the hadith to prove that ablution and purity of the clothes and place are required for sajdat-ushshukr. And that is the opinion of Imam Yahya and Abu Talib. And these hadith are silent about any takbir being made with the prostration. In alBahr it is stated that there is a takbir. Imam Yahya says: 'One is not to make the prostration of thankfulness during a prayer as it is not part of the prayer.'"

  2. Wudhu is required for offering Salah/Hajj only. You can do Sajdah to Allah at any time without Wudhu.

For example, when Prophet Moses defeated the Magicians of Paraoh, they all did sajdah without wudhu.

7:117 And [then] We inspired Moses, "Throw down thy staff!" -and lo! it swallowed up all their deceptions:

7:118 whereupon the truth was established, and vain was proved all that they had been doing.

7:119 And thus were they vanquished there and then, and became utterly humiliated.

7:120 And down fell the sorcerers, prostrating themselves

    Hope it answers the question.

  3. Yes you can wash your self to be clean before God ,the Sajdah is done twice i think

  4. do it to make sure, but i think the best way to do so is by doing it sitting alone in your room and ask him

  5. I'm sure you know that Wudhu (ablution) doesn't require much time nor much water so it is better to be in a state of Wudhu although I don't know if it is necessary or not but just try to have Wudhu then make the prostration. Regarding prostration, we have the following Hadith in Sahih Muslim in regards to your question:

Sahih Muslim, Book 004, Hadith Number 0979.

    ------------------------------

Chapter : Following the Imam and acting after him.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: The nearest a servant comes to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make supplication (in this state).

That is, when someone is prostrating, they are closest to Allah than in any other time, that is why both supplications and gratitude are to be said in the state of prostration.

    Book 004, Hadith Number 0989.

    ------------------------------

Chapter : What is to be recited in bowing and prostration.

Ma'dan b. Talha reported: I met Thauban, the freed slave of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him), and asked him to tell me about an act for which, if I do it, Allah will admit me to Paradise, or I asked about the act which was loved most by Allah. He gave no reply. I again asked and he gave no reply. I asked him for the third time, and he said: I asked Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) about that and he said: Make frequent prostrations before Allah, for you will not make one prostration without raising you a degree because of it, and removing a sin from you, because of it. Ma'dan said that then he met Abu al-Darda' and when he asked him, he received a reply similar to that given by Thauban.

During the prostration in prayers, which required you to have Wudhu, you are ought to say the following three times:

Subhana Rabbiyal A'la wa Bi Hamdihi (Glory be to my Lord most High, and praised be He) (I'm not sure if my translation is exactly correct).

After the above you can make other supplications during the prayer.

    Allah knows best.

    Peace be unto you.
