Question:

I've heard there is a new law about credit inquirys, something about they no longer affect your credit?

I dont know if this is inacted yet or if it was even passed if anyone knows any details or anything about it it would really help

  1. Never had of any new laws. Credit inquires affect your your credit score. There are only 3 exceptions: requests from employers, companies making promotional offers and your own requests to check your credit. Those are the only 3 that will not affect your score.


  2. Only hard inquiries affect your score.  Those are inquries due to you applying for credit.  All the rest are soft inquiries and don't affect your score at all.

    Also, it's only a small ding and your score rebounds quickly.  The exception is if you apply for a lot of credit in a short time (not shopping for mortgage or car loan).  That takes a bigger bite but still not that drastic.  Certainly nothing to need a new law.
