I've just been stopped by the highway agency for some checks?

I've just got to my destination and my lap top is not on the back seat anymore.

Has this happened to anybody else? I'm certain it was there!

I assume they were some government people in yellow high vis vests.

The highways agency always work with police officers who stop the vehicles for them.

Report the incident to the police and claim on your insurance.

And next time, don't leave your valuables in public view, even if it means covering them with a blanket.

I think you've guessed by now, you've been had.

Highways Agency don't stop-check vehicles, if anyone it would have been VOSA.  In any case, only the police can order you to pull in.  There's just been a stop-check going on down the road from here, run jointly by VOSA and HMR&C, they had the police there to pull traffic in and the police genuinely had to leave to attend to an accident the other side of the dual carriageway.  So they had to finish what they were doing and sit around drinking coffee until the boys in blue came back.

Sorry, I know it won't help you but perhaps others might find the warning timely.  I hope you've got some info you can give the police, good luck.

I use a hi vis jacket. I work for an electricity company. Any more computers available? Every time I've seen a Highways agency check point they have the police with them. They did have the police with them, didn't they? You did ask to see some id?
