My 2 kids and me went into town this morning, as i promised to buy them both a water gun.

So, we bought the water guns, and got home.

Then, it was pouring down with rain, and we were all soaking wet anyway, so i thought 'sod it' and got the water guns all full up with water, and we had a water fight in the back garden.

It was SO MUCH fun!!

But then my next door neighbour came out and told me that my kids might catch a cold etc, and that i souldnt be playing with them in the rain!

We were all having a great time, so where is the harm??

  1. No harm at all. Laughter and joy is a great deterrent to colds etc.

I praise u for having such fun.

You were making happy memories sweety.

Want me to go squirt your neighbour. What a sour puss.

  2. your neighbor is ignorant. You don't get viruses from being wet and cold. You catch them from other people who have them or from touching something that has a virus on it left from another person. It's a myth that you can catch a cold from being out in the cold.

I would look up info on this on the internet, print it out and then stick in her mailbox with a note that says "mind your own bussiness!|"

  3. FACT. Rain does not give you cold. Not getting dry afterwards does.

  4. its got nothing to do with her tell her to keep her nose out of your business

  5. You should have squirted your neighbour too.

  6. There is no harm as long as they got warm and dry afterwards which I' sure they did xD just tell her to mind her own business

  7. tell him/her to mind their business and if they do get a cold who has to take care of them? that's the purpose of water guns anyway

  8. OMG, tell your nosy neighbor to mind his or her own freakin' business. They are your kids, and if they get sick you're the one that's going to take care of them not her nosy butt. Maybe, she's jealous that she didn't get an invite to play too..lol..

  9. gotta love unsolicited advice. it seems once you have kids everybody knows better than you how to raise them. smile, say thanks for caring so much for my kids. but i got this!

  10. Your neighbour is just grumpy..

as long as they have a hot bath after there is no harm.

  11. If its not cold out and its not thunderstorming then there really isnt a danger. really its no different than swimming in warm weather or playing in a sprinkler only the water is coming from the sky. if its chilly outside i could understand her concern but otherwise there is no harm

  12. You should have told her to mind her opwn business, what a stickybeak!

No harm at all, it was warm yesterday!  Ignore the silly moo.  Bet she doesn't have little ones to try and keep entertained all summer long does she?

  13. Ur their mother and u know best.  Why cant people keep the noses out of other peoples business. And you don't need to justify yourself (we had a warn bath) as a mother u look after ur kids.

  14. you should have squirted the the neighbour with the water gun sounds like a kill joy to me .we should take every oppotunity to have fun with our kids not take any notice of spoil sports

  15. Your neighbor probably came off the wrong way, he or she could have gently told you their concerns instead of coming off as they are better than you, if they did. As to playing in the rain, it can make one cold and susceptible to catching something because it opens contact to mud and such bacteria, but just take showers and get warm, hope you had fun but it isn't an every day thing.

  16. I dont think there is any harm in having a little fun and if they do get a cold it will build up their immune system enyway.

So you should tell your neighbour that they are your kids and you can do whatever you want!!

    Hope this helped!!!

  17. I don't think you have told us the whole story.

My guess is that you were making so much noise that you were disturbing your neighbours.

The harm is that when you live in a community you need to consider other people and not just yourself.

  18. I would just thank the neighbor for her concern but that you got it under control and they will be just fine.  you could even go so far as to educate her that most colds are caught by other people, not rainy days *lol* Don't let her "dampen your fun" ;)

  19. i can't see any harm on that. Your neighbor just envying you how happy and enjoying your quality time with your kids.

  20. That kind of experience makes the best memories of childhood-much more than any toy or commercial park. Ignore her.

  21. Tell your neighbour you can only catch a cold from germs (then sneeze on her lol).

We have kids next door to us, I like the sound of them having fun but screaming is a big no no, I would understand if that was your neighbours complaint.

  22. Everyone knows best. They always want to tell you how you should be a better parent. Lets remember though that these years go so fast and us parents spend those precious years worrying about what others think.

With our English summers what are you supposed to do? You did no harm and put your kids first and had some quality time with them.

  23. Not doing any harm and they can't catch a cold from being wet, it's a virus.

Sounds like she was annoyed at the noise and wanted an excuse to say something.

  24. There is no harm. Exposure to rain doesn't make you sick. Germs do. If it wasn't too cold out, there is nothing wrong with it. If they get cold, just dry them off and get them warmed up. It does take extra energy to warm your body if you get too cold, and that might lower your resistance to any germs you may have been exposed to, but that's about the extent of the risk. I spent lots of time playing in the rain on warm days as a kid.

  25. There is was no harm done. Don't listen to your neighbor, your the parent and you know what you should and shouldn't do. You sound like an awesome parent too. Not many parents do things with there children. And if your neighbor says something again just tell them in a polite way to mind their business.

  26. Your neighbor should mind her own beeswax. The worst that could have happened was you guys catching a cold. So, next time tell your neighbor that you know how to take care of your kids and would not appreciate her butting in.

  27. She just sounds really nosey. Take no notice. As long as you get them both warm and dry afterwards, there's no harm!

You sound like a cool mum by the way, my mum would never have done stuff like that!

  28. your neighbor sounds like an idiot!

First of all, as long as you are not in some way abusing or neglecting your kids, it's none of his business.

And second of all, people catch colds from germs not rain. You MUST have a virus present in your body to catch a cold. You had a warm bath, you warmed up, so you did the right thing.

    Ignore this neighbor!

  29. Your neighbor needs to learn to mind her own business.  Driving in the rain is more dangerous to your health than playing water guns.  I'm sure this busy body drives in the rain....

  30. so long as the kids are dry and warm afterwards, it's fine.  Squirt the old cow in the face the next time she interferes

  31. What gives you a cold is going in and out of the heat and the cold, the kids are fine as long as they aren't shivering and they are still having fun.  Tell the neighbor you're sorry he didn't have this much fun with his kids and then ask if he wants to join you.
