I've just bought an inflatable roof rack and I have the kayak on top of the car...now HOW do I tie it down? I

I have cam straps, do I tie it down to the width of the kayak or the whole width of the car roof? Help, the kayak's on the roof right now!

Is the roof rack secured  to the car top? Use ropes or straps. Do not use elastic rope! You need four ropes or straps. Tie the bow to the front bumper and the stern to the rear bumper. Tie one or two ropes over the kayak and to the roof rack. If the roof rack is not secure you can run the ropes thru the windows...Some straps come with clips that fasten to the car moldings.  Drive a mile or two and check the fasteners. Ropes, Determine the length you need. At one end fasten a small loop. Run the line/rope through the bow eye or grab loop, around the bumper and back through the end loop. tighten, then tie off the rope with half hitches. Do the same with the other ropes or straps..
