I've just changed from XP to Vista, is there an alternative to 'notepad' or 'wordpad' in Vista?

  2. Nope, nothing that's perminate and free anyways. Vista might have came with a Microsoft Office trial, with MSO Word, but considering it's a trial, it's not recommended to use for important documents unless you're able to afford the full version (Or find cracks online if you don't mind doing it illegally).

    You could probably google for text document programs, see what comes up, but i don't know any off the top of my head besides officer Word, Wordpad, and Notepad (but I settle for those)

    you can search for them in the search bar or they are under the accessors folder in the start menu
