  1. The only way to find out how good you are is do it. Most clubs have different grades depending on how good you are , or how committed you are. Over the years I covered the whole range ... from playing for a team that won the Priemier Grade , to one that came last in the Social Grade. Enjoyed playing in all of them. I'm 52 now and most of the people I meet through playing and still keep in touch with ( lifetime friends)  were from the Social Grade.

Play for fun ...enjoy ... it doesn't matter how good you are.

  2. Try and watch a lot of rugby to figure out what is going on and the different positions and where they are at and of what they do. Learn the rules and ask loads of questions to people or coaches who can walk you through things. Once you get a grip of rugby basics try playing in a game and see which position you may like and is good at. Also ask experienced players and coaches for tips. Good luck old chap.

  3. just give it a shot. you don't know how good you really are till you try it. just do lots of running and lifting and you should be fine.

  4. Rugbys great fun to play, the club should teach you all you need to know, but watch as much rugby as you can Esp The All Blacks, Aussies or South Africans . 3 best teams in the world. Figure out what position your suited to and watch them during the games! google Jonah Lomu videos and watch them, easily one of the best wingers
