Anyhoo, after a blood test, my arm usually settles after 20 to 30 minutes, but today it's still hurting quite badly about an inch above the scar.

I read a couple of questions which have been asked before, but responses only said that the nurse might have hit a nerve.

However, my nurse told me that I had, quote, "quite a big vein" - is it possible that she still poked a nerve?

  1. I think it is quite possible. OR it could even be bruised from the needle. Hope you feel better soon!

  2. There is a possibility the phlebotomist has punctures through vein and there is an area that bled inside for a while.. like an internal bruise..  it will be swelling inside hence the pressure/pain.. It is likely it will bruise over the next few days. direct pressure over the area for 10-15 minutes simple pain killers and review it . however if it is still painful in a little while  call back to the surgery
