  1. The current maxim is smallest possible dose of HRT for the shortest possible time. I assume that you are symptomatic, flushes, mood swings and night sweats etc. as this is now the only first line indication. Or you have had recent oophorectomy, which is considered quite differently.

    Symptom relief or reduction is often quite rapid, but because of the low starting doses, some women do need more hormone to get relief.
