Hey i'm 14 and I've just started my period. I feel SO sick and I have terrible pains in my stomache. I constantly feel as if I'm going to throw up and I have already thrown up once this morning. I'm feeling very very queazy . I've taken 2 pain killers to try and get rid of the pain but it hasn't worked. Is something wrong with me? This has only just started - like - as soon as I started my period.. :(

Thanks x*x

  1. It is called Dysmenorrhea(medical term). IT is normal. Don't worry about it. your period would last 3-5 days. Dont worry too much..

  2. Be prepared to feel like this every four weeks for about 40 years.

Honestly, after a while, you learn to use a hot water bottle and a couple of painkillers and maybe some Evening Primrose Oil.

Go to Tesco's and buy these tablets because they'll help your body control itself a bit better, so the symptoms won't be as severe and you won't feel the need to overdose on painkillers.

You'll also hear your PE teachers telling you over and over again that you can't bunk out of PE with period pains because exercise helps a lot. They're really not lying, I can tell you!

  3. Go to the doctors. Most people don't throw up on their period. I don't know why all of the other answerers are being so insensitive. Maybe you have too many hormones or something. Talk to your mum about it and see if this happens to her on her period.

  4. Your very first period is always the worst and they will get a little better over time although generally the first couple days are always the worst as far as cramps go. I still remember my first period I was home alone and I thought I was dying I literally could barely crawl across the floor to call my grandma to come and help me. Since I was raised by my dad and he was at work. the good news is I'm still alive and you will live too. Try different things for the pain until you find something that works for you. Ginger snaps can be good for cramps too.

  5. Don't worry, I started my period at about 14 too. The bad news is that for a few months it will be a bit horrible like this every month but it does settle down, and if it doesn't, when you're a bit older you can go on the pill, which will regulate your periods and make them a lot lighter and virtually pain free.

Nothing is wrong with you, I used to get really awful cramps so badly that I couldn't get out of bed for the first day, I remember thinking arrgh what's wrong with me!?

A hot water bottle on your stomach and a bit of hot chocolate will make it feel a bit better, but unfortunately it is just one of those things we have to go through!

  6. Awww!  I hate it for you, but welcome to the club.

    How to make things easier:

    1) Ibuprofen

    2) exercise

    3) hydrate

I know the exercise thing sounds like it shouldn't work, but believe me it does.  It evens everything out (and keeps you in shape, to boot!) so your symptoms aren't so severe.

  7. awww sweetie

nothing is wrong with you, this comes with periods! it sucks doesnt it!

If i were you go out and have some fun and go shopping or something, take your mind off it! its better than sitting at home thinking about it and just waiting for to throw up

    dont worry sweetie

    congrats for coming into womanhood!!

btw my daughter would envy you starting your period at 14, she starteed hers when she was 9 :(

  8. I know I am not a female, but if this were my daughter, I would call a doctor, no matter how serious the physical issues were. Taking answers from a site like Yahoo answers may not be the way to go. Talk to a professional.

  9. welcome to the world of women sweetie....you will start getting bitchy as the years come its call pms.....take midol and have a happy period :)

  10. are you sexually active?  if you really think its too bad you should talk to your parents and see a doctor.  I went to school with a girl who thought she was just starting her period but was really having a miscarriage and she almost got really hurt.  there are also a couple STDs that can make periods worse, i just can't remember which ones anymore.

  11. Unfortunately this happens to every girl and some pains vary depending on the person. Nothing is wrong with you its a force of nature to help some of ur stomach pain try a heating pad and take some tums or peptobismal try imodium even. I hope this helps and u feel better soon P.S talk to ur mom and c if she has any suggestions

  12. Nothing wrong with you at all.

You will get used to it. Its annoying as anything.

Try some painkillers such as feminax which are specifically designed for period pain.

Get in a hot bath. Then after get a hot water bottle for your tummy.

As you have only just started your period, this isnt recommended, and you will need to talk to your doctor about it, but if it continues to be very very bad over the next year or so, the doctor can put you on the pill which can ease very very bad period pain.

  13. Try using Feminax or iBubrofen

  14. try putting a hot water bottle on you tummy

    it eases the pain

    x.

  15. You are completely normal, im 13 and i've had mine for 1 year and a half and i have the same thing as what your having, its horrible i hate going to school with it, i can't concentrate at all but once you get used to it you'll learn to just ignore it. it will get easier and your body won't hurt so much but btw just to warn you you've probably got to put up with this for about 50 years. and on that bombshell i'm going to stop writing,

    hope your better soon.

    all my love. Steph. X

  16. It will be your period that is causing this.

Most people get ill when they just start. In some cases its just because your thinking that your going to be ill and then your mind makes you ill try not to think about it too much.

    Hope you get well soon

  17. There's nothing wrong with you. Getting your period sucks. There are bad cramps, mood swings, bloating, cravings, and fatigue. Sometimes painkillers don't always work. Exercise helps a lot.

    Good luck

  18. Unfortunately, welcome to your 35-40 years of monthly inconvenience. Try hot packs where the pain is and drink plenty of fluids and just take it easy. The first couple were the worst for me.

  19. Nurofen is good for period pain. There is nothing wrong with you. Hope your period gets easier over time

  20. Take a hot bath. Take some time off and watch a good movie. Listen to your favourite music and eat chocolate. Makes you feel better and forget the pain. Don`t go to school.

  21. Well, you could take Midol, which is a specific period painkiller, and it works for me. Also, try not to switch from standing to sitting very often. But other than that, you have to try to deal with it and it will get easier after you've had them for awhile.

    Hang in there!!

  22. To Get Rid Of The Pain Lie On Your Back With Your Feet Up In The Air And Place A Hot Water Bottle On Your Pelvis Area Works 4 me

  23. That's normal!!!

    This can help you...

  24. You are fine although you don't feel it. Cramping lower abdominal pains are the most common symptom. Pain can also spread to the lower back and the thighs. When severe, the pain can be accompanied by nausea or vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation or feeling faint. Some women may also get headaches. I know it's awful but usually it gets better as you get older. Don't listen to scaremongers - you are fine. Have a hot bath and snuggle up, take a pain killer like nurofen and try to relax.

  25. No, there isn't something wrong with you.   This is unfortunately quite common. This feeling should pass in the next few days, as the first two days of your period are usually the worst.

Try taking calcium supplements every month or at least a few weeks before your next cycle.  This should help.

Just a question, don't you have any friends or female family members you can ask.  They should be able to support you through this time.  i know it can be quite daunting for a young girl when she first starts her period.

  26. I have recently started using Motrin IB. Not, tylenol, or advil, get motrin.

If your period is as bad as you say you might want to talk to your parents about getting birth control. Birth control helps with cramps extremely! Depending on how much your parents trust you they might listen to you.

HEAT is the big key as well. Get a heating pad and put it on either side (lay in it or put it on your tummy) and just lay there... drink some tea.The pain should go away soon.

  27. I used to be the same. I was in so much pain I threw up all the time, and that meant I couldn't keep pain killers down. It was a vicious cycle from h**l. Only dipositories could help me, but who likes sticking a finger up there? Not me.

I went on the pill as soon as. Explain to your doctor that the pain is unbearable, and tell your mother you don't want to have s*x, but the pain is too bad. When I went on the pill the pains went away immediately. It also makes the periods lighter (i.e. less blood).

Your doctor will find a contraceptive pill that is perfect for you. See him as soon as cause you start taking it on your first day of your period.

    Best of health! xx

  28. no this is natural but if you feel reali bad just go to the docs and he'l prescribe you some period pain tablets and there reali gd. hope you feel better xx

  29. Do some abdominal exercises or find something to do around the hours that will exercise the abdomen.

You also need to start eating a lot of fruits and vegetables.  Eat a very wide variety of fruits and vegetables (all kinds) Raw vegetables are excellent, especially cabbage.  These will keep your bowel free and most likely will prevent you from having the pain in the future.  If you start now it might just ease the pain before your period stops.

During this time, while having the upset stomach, you might need to eat very slowly and in small proportion.  Citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruits, tangerines, etc. might help to calm your stomach.  Eat even the gut of these.  If you can tolerate the taste the white part below the rind skin, it is also good.

Have a bow of fruits (a mixture of different fruits) each day.  Have a bowl of raw vegetables a mixture of different vegetables) with nuts and cheese each day.

  30. You feel terrible because you are new to this, you will soon get used to it. For the pain I reccommend Ibruprofen such as Nurofen. Hot water bottles also help as well as a hot bath.

If you take Evening Primrose suppliments every day this should calm down and in my case stop period pain (they work after a few weeks)

After a while if you notice you have heavy periods (Menorrhagia)  , go to your doctor and they will give you something to make it lighter.

Don't worry, your body is still adjusting to this.

  31. Ok, well i wouldn't necessarily listen to everyone with the tough love attitude! it hurt, your sick, your miserable.. and it doesn't have to be like this...

Honestly everyone reacts differently, do try a pain method meant for period pain - not just a normal headache tablet, honestly i know you want to stay in a tight ball position but try to walk around it REALLY does help - even thou i often didn't do it until my mum or friend dragged me up! have a warm bath, or hot water bottle or electric blanket or wheat bag. and if this continues over the next few months, may pay to see the doc, as there are things that can be making this worse for you, i wont go into them cos it will just cause un necessary worry but they can also give you something either stronger for the pain or something that might eliminate the pain altogether if it is something else, or be able to monitor you. good luck sweety, sorry this scary but exciting n life changing time has to be so painful for you!
