I might like to use this name for my future daughter: Bijou (BEE-zhoo.) This name is of French origin, and if you still aren't sure as to how to pronounce it, here's the link:

If you were to say this name aloud, it might also assist you. I would simply like to know whether or not you like this name. Also, you don't really think a little girl with this name would get teased, do you? Lastly, being that I like nicknames because I feel they denote friendliness, I might go with either Bi-Bi, or Zhoo-Zhoo, or something. What do you think? There is an actress by this name: Bijou Phillips; if it does you any good. I thank you so much for your time and assistance!

  1. That means "kiss" in french...

Dont put her in french immersion then cuz im in french immersion (u learn science, socials and math and of course french in french) cuz in gr 4 i think we learned that word and everyone kept sayng it and making random kissy faces so i bet if she were there they would have done that to her...

Though in french its spelt different.

  2. I think it is very pretty, but it would really help if you were french people.

  3. Sorry I don't.

  4. im not a fan of that name but if u like it then go for it

  5. I sort of like Bijou. When she's younger, her friends might have a problem pronouncing it when they see it at first, but I don't think it's a horrible name at all.

You can always call her Bee :)

  6. i like it more as a middle name. Deanna Bijou sounds really nice.

  7. i like the name Bi Bi but i have always been a fan of the name Angie.

  8. Well......it's diffrent'

  9. Bijou would be a lovely name.. if you were in France.

Little kids are mean. I know because I once was one..lol.

Eventually someone is going to start making cruel jokes.. not to MENTION the misspellings!

You mention that you are part French.. there are plenty of lovely French names that would be culturally accurate, like Clarisse, Angelique, Simone, Marie, etc.

If you named her Bijou, she would probably just use her middle name anyway and be embarrassed of the first name. It's a nice idea but..eh.

  10. no i dont like it sorry.

i noticed you name is Monique though!

    i named my daughter Monique.

    fantastic name :)

  11. My grandmother from France is Bijou. When she came to live with us in California, no one could pronounce her name.

She got a job in a department store and they called her Betty. (yuck!)

I really love the name Bijou ( it means jewel ). Maybe you could use it in the middle.

Name her something teacher and business friendly and let Bijou be the nickname.

    Good Luck!

  12. LOVE that name ! I was actually considering naming my next dog that...Seriously ! lol..I want to get a Pomeranian or a Pekinese and name her Bijou...I think it's very pretty.
