  1. If this happened over 6-7 years ago, it's not going to be in any current papers.

You need to search archives, if anything was even ever published.  Not all people put obits in papers.

  2. Because of the delicate nature of the death and age of the person involved, the family may have elected to keep the death "private" to spare themselves from shame and embarrassment often associated with suicides, and did not print an obituary.  By "private" I mean out of public print.  Family and friends already know what happened.

  3. You might try checking with friends or relatives to see if an obituary was ever published. Sometimes they are not, If there was an obit submitted and you can find out which papers carried it, you can either:

    1. Contact the paper directly and ask for a copy of the obit. You will probably have to provide the date of publication as well as the name of the deceased.

    2. Contact a library in a town where the paper was distributed. Libraries often keep copies of old papers as well as microfilms of back issues. Again you will probably have to provide at LEAST the date of death and the name of the deceased.

  4. Do you remember where the funeral home was?   Check with them, if an obit was published, they are usually the source to provide to the paper.
