Question:

I've lost my SSN, and can't remember it. Do I need it to apply for a passport?

I'm a British/American dual national, and I'm applying for an emergency passport at the London Embassy. I was given a SSN card at birth, but I've lost it. I have all the correct documents stated on the U.S. embassy's website that will allow me to apply for an emergency passport.

Will I need my SSN? If yes, will the embassy be able to find it for me quickly there and then, considering I have ID with me? Also, my sister was granted a SSN card at the same time when we were younger, and our numbers are only one digit different. So I know all of the digits of my SSN except for the last one.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I've tried calling the embassy several times but their automated messages don't answer my questions, and I can never get through to a representative.

  1. Quickly? The embassy does not know that word whatsoever.

I don't know were you have been living, but not to know the SS # in the USA is like you don't know your own name.

If you have another passport travel to the USA with it, and then, once you're down here it will be a million times easier to get what you want.

  2. I don't know how much help this will be but you can check out the SSA Contact" page listed below. Good Luck!

  3. TRAVEL ON BRITISH PASSPORT TO MEET THIS AILING RELATION AND GET YOUR SSN WHILE YOU ARE IN USA IT IS EASY TO GET YOUR PASSPORT DONE IN USA THEN IN ANY US EMBASSY
