So I made a simple stirred vanilla custard. I was looking on Y!A and saw some people were saying add jelly.

What do they mean?

How do I add jelly? Like put it inside the custard? I don't get it.

I only have currant jelly and grape.

  1. I never heard of this, but I would imagine that they either mixed it in before pouring it, or they layered it - - - custard > jelly > custard.

  2. jelly is what we english call jello

  3. NOOOOOO!

Maybe you are talking to some idiot YANK (I admit I may be one of them )  Serve your lovely custard with a shortcake.

Jelly in the  US use means gelatin and you would be making your custard into something like a jiggly, opaque aspic.

  4. Never heard of a trifle?
