  1. costco is as cheap as safeway but you get more. so like at safeway you can only buy like 2 of those red baron little pizza's where at costco they sell like 12 in a box and it is about the same price.

  2. omg u never been 2 costco?? to answer your  question, all they have at costo is bulk, so there isnt really a choice. in comparison you pay alot more at costco but your get a lot more food so if ur havin a party or want food fora couple weeks [for some reason....y2k lol] u can. my family went there like once every couple months just for groceries when we got tired of going to safeway every other day to get more food. its a good place if ur lazy and hate going 2 the store everytimeu run out of milk. u usually pay 100-299 $, usually never more than 300 unless u go crazy lol good luck!!

i luv costco because they have samples of like 20 diff things, they taste soo good! i never thought vegetarian chicken would taste like REAL CHICKEN!! YUM!!!!! now i know i can become a vegetarian really easily! lol sry i keep rambling =P

  3. Costco is just like a Sam's Club.  Everything is in bulk.  That is good if you use alot of one thing, or if you are planning a party.  In my opinion, alot of things are cheaper, but again, they are in bulk with the exception of the meat depart.  Its a cool store.  $50 buys a membership.

  4. Some food items are packaged in reasonable amounts (cheese, milk are two good examples), others are in large quantity but can be stored easily and save you enough money that it is worth it (toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soap, dry pet food).

Some fruit is in the same basic quantities you get at any store (apples, bananas and grapes are usually in convenient quantities).

Some frozen goods are worth it, if you have space in your freezer, we get pretty good deals on frozen peas, frozen corn and french fries.

We use Costco to manage some of our grocery load, and have learned which items are cheaper than our general grocery store, and that we'll consume before the item goes bad. We then tend to use a general grocery store for bread, tortillas, canned goods (sauces, soups etc), and for fresh vegetables and some fruit. The two together provides a nice balance and tends to save us a little money.

We also tend to use Costco to buy our gasoline, and we got a pretty good deal on an HDTV there last year. We also get a rebate on every purchase at the end of the year.

My other advice is to avoid Costco on Saturday and Sunday if you can, as it tends to be really packed, and you'll wait quite a long time at checkout. Also beware of "impulse buys", as they tend to stack items on the end of each aisle, and also place DVDs, video games and clothing items around, that are often not very good deals. Some are, but most are not, if you know where to shop.

I'd say Costco could probably save most average families a little money, but you'll still need to use a regular grocery store to fill in the gaps.
