  1. i was there in September and i didn't have any problems... just keep an eye out and make sure there are lifeguards wherever you are going to be.

    have fun!

  2. the usual no open wounds/jewelery...if in the rare occasion a shark sees you as a food item-- usually there is a physical problem with the shark-injury or sickness. in this situation try to dammage the shark's eyes as they are highly sensitive to pain. In most other attacks the shark mistakes a person for a seal...and most of these occur after the shark has bumped into the person a few times to test their response with their highly sensitive snouts. If one does bump into you let them know you're not a seal and that you're aware of its presence...try to pet it sharks actually love being pet. It's OK to be a bit scared and it's smart too but if your frantic the shark is going to think you're a food item. it's like encountering wild dogs...you can coexist but both you and the shark need respect and space. share the water there's plenty of it!

  3. I've been to cozumel several times and you have nothing to worry about.  I go to find Sharks, and the only time I see them is when I'm scuba diving 60 ft below the surfice.  Additionally, the type of Sharks you see in Cozumel will leave you alone.  They're harmless reef sharks and nurse sharks.  They are not looking to bite people.  Lastly, Cozumel has a marine reserve that runs along the island on the side where the resorts and hotels are.  There is NO fishing aloud on the marine park, so there won't be anything attracting sharks like blood.
